Here's to 2017
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Happy New Years, everyone - it's officially 2017!
Hope your dreams, aspirations and resolutions come true and may 2017 be an exciting year for all of you :)
New year, new me?
Not quite. But, the new year does bring a new beginning, a fresh start so to speak - whether you're transitioning into a new career, lifestyle, or even to a brand new city/country! 2017 gives people the chance to kick off the year however they want.
Take some time to look back on the past year, reflect on those 365 days in 2016.
You’ve undoubtedly had some ups and downs, along with that, some great successes and letdowns - but you should be proud of them and how you finished off the year. Congratulate yourself on all the high points this past year. Just give yourself some well-deserved credit!
Make 2017 your year and start it off right! Along with the new year naturally begets the age-old tradition of - yes, you already know... New Year's resolutions!
But instead of setting some resolutions for yourself and keeping them a secret, try sharing them with a couple of your closest friends instead. Why? Well, to put it simply, sharing your resolutions and making them known ensures a better chance of you seeing them through. Unless you're great at being accountable to yourself - then by all means! But I always find it more fun to share my resolutions :)
So without further ado, here are some of my resolutions for 2017:
This year, I will not take my health for granted - for me, this means getting enough exercise, while letting my body rest when it needs to and making sure I get enough sleep - not my typical "I can run on 5 hours of sleep" spiel.
I actually got really sick this past weekend and completely lost my voice - had an amazing New Year's celebration in LA, but I think my sickness was past due. I hardly ever get sick, so when I do it's even more so...
But anyways, back to my health - how am I going to monitor this?
Well, I actually got a FitBit along with some pretty awesome presents this past Christmas, which I'll include below.
Mine is the FitBit Alta in the Black/Gold special edition.
Also, with the Blush Pink leather band.
What I love is the ability you have to change up the look and style of your FitBit by changing its accessory bands with metal, leather and even more options.
This is my new favorite accessory - it tracks my activity all day, along with my sleep (which is really important to me). Another cool thing my FitBit does is it sends me reminders throughout the day telling me it's time to move if I've been sitting for too long!
Also, another fun fact - I signed up for my first ever half-marathon this March! It's coming up real soon. Ever since I graduated college and started working, I can't say I've kept up my running habits. So another one of my goals is to be more active, and that means running again - after all, I do have to train for that half-marathon. Wish me luck!
For Christmas, I also got a coloring calendar from Johanna Basford, which also doubles up as a keepsake box! I don't know about you guys, but I never stopped enjoying coloring. So this was the perfect gift :)
Which leads me to another one of my resolutions, which is taking the time to do what makes me happy!
This year, I want to make a note of all the wonderful things that happen - whether it be a little or great feat. This is a fun and easy thing anyone can do! You could create your own happiness jar by simply writing down when something good happens on a little piece of paper and adding it into the jar - you'd be amazed how full the jar will start to get! And by the end of the year, you'll be able to look back on all the amazing accomplishments 2017 brought.
This year, I want to pick up a fun activity outside of work to enjoy.
Photography is a big one for me - I just recently got a new digital camera (which essentially acts like a DSLR) for my birthday. It's called the Sony A5000. It comes in black, silver and white.
Don't be fooled by the size of the camera - it takes phenomenal photos! It has 20.1 megapixels and a 16-50mm lens. For reference, most of the photos I've used on my blogs have been taken by this little guy.
Apart from photography, there are tons of creative hobbies you can pick up. Another fun hobby I want to pick up is learning how to cook. So perhaps taking cooking class would be a fun thing for me to do! And music - which is a huge part of my life. I LOVE all things music. I learned how to play the piano when I was 11, and I've had a guitar since junior year of college - but can't say I've taken any serious lessons. So that's another thing I want to take the time to do this year.
What are some of your resolutions for the new year?

And as promised, here are the rest of my Christmas presents I said I would share:
